Question 14: How did God create man?

Question 14: How did God create man?

Answer: God created man male and female, after his own image, in knowledge, righteousness, and holiness, with dominion over the creatures.

Scripture: Genesis 1:27-28; Colossians 3:10; Ephesians 4:24.

Comment: In saying that we were created after his image “in knowledge, righteousness and holiness,” we do not mean we know all God knows, nor that we are a fountain of righteousness and holiness the way he is. We mean that we were capable of sharing his knowledge and righteousness and holiness in a relationship of trust and love unlike any other creature under the angels.

I think this means god will shine through us if we want to receive him (god is love). We too will be like him but it is hard living in a world of sin and suffering, but if we continue to fight with god by our side and with our brothers and sisters who also believe in the almighty we can overcome the difficulties and build upon our strength and live in peace.

      Georgia,

Thanks for visiting my blog. I must make a couple clarifications to your response. First, the Bible tells us that no one seeks after (wants) God until He changes our heart from a heart of stone to a heart of flesh. Then, and only then, will we want God. Second, our efforts to “fight” will be fruitless unless we trust God to fight for us, not “by our side”. We are powerless to defeat the sin that has enslaved us. We are freed only when God chooses to free us. Our strength should only be our dependence and reliance upon His strength.

      Would you agree?

    Mr. Letsberealistic,

How do you know that God does not exist? Please explain. If you are honest you will have to agree that you can’t know for sure that God does not exist.

Also, what did the human race evolve from? Are your referring to Darwinian evolution or something else? What was the origin of whatever you think the human race evolved from? And, what the origin of that? Do you see the problem? There has to be a beginning and that beginning has to have an original cause. That original cause is God.

        Mr. Letsberealistic,

I posed my questions to you about 8 months ago and this is the best response you can give. Since I assume that you did pass high school science you should be able to answer my questions (from May 26, 2011) fully and thoroughly. Please enlighten me and anyone else who will chose to read this particular post and comments thread.

On a more serious note, my questions are valid and you must be able to answer them if you are going to make the assertion that God does not exist and that man evolved from something else. Darwinian evolution does not answer these questions.

And for the record, I did very well in every science class I took in high school except Chemistry and I didn’t do well in it only because I chose not to apply myself and do the necessary work. I did the bare minimum in that class that was required to get by. Even with my chemistry grade I graduated 11th in my class…..had I applied myself in chemistry I might have pushed the top 5.

Tom, I do not think that is necessary for me to explain myself as it would be simply reciting common knowledge. Over the past century and especially the past few decades, studies and observations all over the world (from different nations and cultures) have provided solid evidence that we humans have infact evolved from the same family as apes.

However, I do admit that how time began or how the universe came into existence, we do not have much evidence for. I just think that the existence of a big man in the sky, so to speak, is too convenient of an answer. It sounds as if just because it cannot be explained it must be something un-explainable by science. An example of such an incident; the ‘Salem Witch Trials’, where people were accused of witchcraft where in fact this was not the case.

If humans have evolved from the “same family of apes” then where are the transitional forms that should exist? There are none so all the studies and observations that you refer to have to be flawed at best. Also, you must realize the difference between macro evolution (darwinian) and micro evolution (changes within species). No evidence exists for macro evolution and micro evolution does not prove your point.

The real question is not wheather god created us; but how, and by how I mean the exact process in detail. Sorta like asking how is math possible. I would think that evolution is actually the latest assumption to how he created us; one that honestly makes more sense. Although, there’s a saying that the time it takes for a single cell organism to form into….. well any organism similar to us is way to long; but thats only a theory, not sure if thats true.

          Amari,

Answering how, “the exact process in detail”, we were created only becomes relevant in our search to understand God’s creation and our place in it. Evolution is not “the latest assumption” of how he created us. It is an attempt to show that God was not necessary in creation of anything at all and does not even exist. Believers must reject evolution.

What proof do you have that God does exist? Science has more than proven the man has evolved from some type of mamal. Apes have the closest DNA structure to man. How does your bible explain this? How can dinosaurs bones be older than any bible? Did God create them in his image too?

Let me ask you this Tom; Which came first, the chicken or the egg? I’m sure you’ll find your answer in your bible.

First, why can’t you use your real name? Do you not have the courage to stand behind your comments? If you bother to respond to my answers/explanations below please do so with your real name. Otherwise, don’t waste either of our time.

I would love to see how science “has more than proven the man has evolved from some type of mamal”. Since you have made this claim please document it. The last I looked evolution is still a theory and has not been proven as fact. Also, a close DNA structure means nothing except that the same Creator used the same materials to create both man and apes. It in no way proves that one evolved from the other. There have been no transitional forms found as we would expect to find if one had evolved from the other.

Please clarify your question about dinosaur bones being older than any bible.

Man was the only creature that God created in his image. That is why man was given dominion over all of God’s creation until his return and creation has been purified and made new again.

Tom its funny that you said it like that.. “How do you know God does not exist?” but that can be turned and asked to you aswell “How do you know God exists?” I mean aside from a book that tells you what to believe how do you yourself know?
If God loves all the little children then why does he let his followers suffer with diseases..why hasnt he gave word to a follower telling them the cure for cancer since he used to talk to his followers when the Bible was written.
If God was so worried about the coruption of the world when he flooded the world and asked noah to build the ark. Then why do we live in such a sinful place today?

    • Tom Shelton says:

      Tara,

I can know that God exists because I can see his creation. Also, I know God exists because of what he has done in my life. The Bible tells me about him but I don’t have to rely on it to tell me that he exists. Also, no one can know for certain that God does not exist. To know that would require complete and total knowledge and the only being that has that is God. So the best anyone can say is that they don’t know if God exists thus making them agnostic.

Suffering exists because sin has corrupted the world. God created a perfect world with no suffering but man, through his disobedience, corrupted it. God knew this would happen and he has a plan to redeem the world. He sent Jesus to make atonement and the Holy Spirit is applying that atonement as God has planned. At the appointed time the redemption will be completed when Jesus returns. At point all of creation will be cured of all sickness, death, and corruption.

When God sent the flood and destroyed all of mankind except Noah and his family he punished those who lived then but he did not eradicate the sin nature that those people possessed. They passed it on as people repopulated the earth and the creation was still corrupted by sin. We live in a sinful place today for the same reason it was a sinful place before the flood……sin. As I said before, God has a plan to redeem his creation.

I hope that you are counted among his people. If not you will have to pay the penalty for your sins yourself. That is not something I would wish on anyone. If you don’t know for sure, cry out to God and ask him to save you. Ask him to apply the blood of Jesus to you so that you will be cleansed. Aside from this none of us has any hope of redemption.

I hope I have answered your questions.

Granted that we may all be wrong…that is certainly a possibility. But it is not for a lack of evidence. The fact that there is a creation (i.e. the world, universe, or however broad you wish to go) tells us that there has to be a creator. Our task then is to find out who that creator is and let him tell us how he created all that is.

Yes, God created us. He also created everything that exists. John 1:3 says “All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.” Even time and space did not exist until God created them.

I don’t understand the distinction you are making when you say God exists outside of time and space but not here. It is true that Jesus does not currently exist in physical form here but he once did (the first incarnation) and he will again when he returns. In the meantime the Holy Spirit is here now but not in bodily form. So the fact that Jesus does not have a physical form here is by his choice not by any limitation placed on him.

no need to be careful because I was simply quoting John 1:3 where is makes it clear that all that exists (world, universe, etc.) does so because it was created by Jesus. All that was created was created perfect and just and holy just like Jesus. For and explanation of how sin entered this perfect creation you can read Genesis and Romans. After sin entered creation it was corrupted by the sin and the result of that corruption are the things you mentioned.

I would say that not only is it possible but that is exactly what happen. All that exists today was formed by “specific circumstances”…..but “specific circumstances” is NOT evolution. By definition, evolution is the result of mutations or by specific characteristics that make survival easier being passed on. Those are not “specific circumstances”. The “specific circumstances” that resulted in what exist today came about when God decided to create all that exists.

As far as the example you give, it is does not work…..let me try to help you a bit. Assume you were walking down the street and saw as watch lying on the ground. Would you assume it evolved into the form it now has or would you assume someone made it? You would assume there was a maker because you see the watch exists. Now use the same principle and apply it to the all that exists.

Tom, I refer to your February 3, 2012 at 11:24 pm response to my reply. I must correct you in saying that there ARE transitional fossils that show the link between apes and human beings. If you find this too hard to believe, please refer to this web address:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_transitional_fossils#Human_evolution

I also made no reference to ‘macro evolution’ or ‘micro evolution’ in my statement previous to your response.

I now refer to your February 3, 2012 at 11:47 pm response. When i say ‘specific circumstances’, you are right, specific circumstances is not evolution. However, I was not refering to evolution, I was in fact refering to the ‘big bang’ where specific circumstances, alot of gases, caused an explosion and changed all in the universe into what it is today.

In regards to my example, it does work, you have simply manipulated mine so that it suits your beliefs and counters mine. From the debate that we have been having it appears that you are very narrow minded and will not accept any of my evidence what so ever, i do admit that there is no solid evidence to prove your point wrong but there is alot of evidence that points towards evolution and that of which many people like yourself would not believe in.

      • Tom Shelton says:

        Mr. Letsberealistic,

As regards transitional forms, not even everyone in the evolution camp agree that they exist….or at least that any have been found yet. See this article:

        http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/cm/v14/n4/fossils

Also, the distinction between macro and micro evolution is relevant. Darwinian evolution is macro-evolution (dinosaurs to birds, cats into dogs, etc). Evolutionists redefine the term evolution to include micro-evolution (changes within species) because it can be tested and observed, then they use these changes with species to “prove their point” about macro-evolution but the conclusions don’t follow from the evidence.

As regards the “big bang”, I knew that was what you were referring to. But, we have more questions than answers if we assume the big bang was the origin of all that exists. First, where did the gases come from? How did they all get to the right place at the right time and in the right amounts to cause the big bang? Think of the enormity of that question, if every detail was not exactly correct then nothing would exist now. It almost makes you think it was planned by something or someone doesn’t it? And if you accept that, then where did that being or beings or material or whatever it was come from? And what created whatever was before that? You see that we could come up with an infinite regression of this question. The only logical response is that there has to be an uncaused first cause. Something that has always existed and is able to sustain itself without any assistance from anything greater than itself. This is where science will eventually go to as it seeks to answer the questions we are discussing. But the question has already been answered…..the first 5 words in the Bible (Genesis 1:1) say “In the beginning, God created……”

It is good that science continues to search and question and discover new things but it will eventually all come down to these 5 words. As such our goal needs to be to find out who He is and what He is like and what He requires of each of us. Science can not answer these questions, only the Bible can. I invite you to join me in my narrow mindedness and to get to know the Savior and then He can give you the biblical worldview which is needed to filter the “evidence” that we have.

Benson, I am not offended. God created us to glorify him. See here

God did not create us because he was lonely or because he needed something we can provide. He created us to bring himself more glory. Everything he created was perfect but when Adam sinned the creation was changed. It was no longer perfect and sin tainted everything. One result of this taint was that people die. But that is not the end of the story. God made a way to restore his creation and we need to be thankful that he did because he did not have to. So to be restored we have to repent and trust in what Jesus has done and we will be restored both here and in eternity.

I hope this answers your question.

      Hi,
I feel I was born with an open mind. That we will never know if there is a god unless there is some kind of divine intervention. Its difficult to believe the bible is accurate when its thousands of years old and has been translated from ancient languages. How do we know that it hasn’t been affected by centuries of chinese whispers? Evolution I find difficult to understand. If we have evolved from primates then why aren’t primates evolving now? Evolution can not just exist back then and not now! Scientists to me have just looked at a monkey and seen distinct similarities to a human. But if you look at a dog they are made up of exactly the same stuff we are, they eat, breath and pro-create exactly the same way!

Humour me for a moment. What if the creator of life is right under our noses! The creator that we as a race are intent on finding could actually be THE SUN…..God is the sun! It grows the food, it gives us light, it determines how we live our life! I look at pictures of jesus and always behind his head there is a sun. I’m not religous I’m not really in to science I’m just a man who sees what he sees in front of him and I see that every living organism on this planet is connected and depends on each other to help survive a life-time.

I feel that religeon has mislead people and science has damaged our lifes!

        Paul,

What you are seeing is that our universe did not come into existence by change. You are seeing evidence of a designer. Christians know that designer to be God because he has told us in his word that he is the creator of all that exists. When you look at how everything works together and how things depend on each other that is simple proof of design by a master creator.

As to how we know the bible is accurate, well that one is easy. It can be traced back through the thousands of manuscripts that still exist today to a point that we can have virtual certainty that we know what the original author wrote. There is a whole academic discipline called Textual Criticism which deals with this. As such, we can compare all the modern translations to what was originally written in the original languages and there will be some differences due to translation issues between the languages but these translations (at least the good ones) are done by teams of dozens of translators who check, double check, and triple check that they are providing a translation that is accurate for us to read. So, don’t fear because the bible we read today is true to what was written originally.
