John Calvin On The Sufficiency Of God

To conclude, in one word; as often as we call God the Creator of heaven and earth, let us remember that the distribution of all the things which he created are in his hand and power, but that we are his sons, whom he has undertaken to nourish and bring up in allegiance to him, that we may expect the substance of all good from him alone, and have full hope that he will never suffer us to be in want of things necessary to salvation, so as to leave us dependent on some other source; that in everything we desire we may address our prayers to him, and, in every benefit we receive, acknowledge his hand, and give him thanks; that thus allured by his great goodness and beneficence, we may study with our whole heart to love and serve him.  [Institutes of the Christian Religion by John Calvin translated by Henry Beveridge; Book One, Chapter 14, Section 22]

  1. MINISTERING ANGELS
The Bible makes it very clear that we are to send the angels out to fight for us, for they have much more power than us mere mortals. For all the problems that we face are orchestrated by the evil unseen principalities and powers, which seeks constantly to destroy us.
The Lord said to me, “ that one of His angels has enough power to deal with all my troubles,” and yet He assures me that He has multitudes ready to swing into action on our behalf, when we give the command for them to fight. Have you commanded them today to fight for you?
The Lord recently has spoken to me, and said, “Where my angels are, there is my presence.” He said angels must fight the powers of darkness, man cannot defeat such powers, angels will rescue you from all evil.
Never ask an angel for help ,never pray to them, never seek to converse with them, unless they speak to you a message that has been given to them by our Lord. Angels are servants of God and His children. God has provided strength for us by these angelic beings.
When Christ was on this earth in His human form He needed strength, just like we do today, and God sent one of His angels to strengthen Him. So that He could obtain salvation for us.
When you need strength, then command angels to bring you strength from your heavenly Father, in fact you can command angels to bring anything that you have asked your Father for. For example, health, wealth, deliverance, peace, etc.
Now, some people are very confused about pictures or statues of angels, thinking that it is forbidden in the Bible to look upon such things, but in fact what the Bible says is that we must not bow down and worship images. For these visual aids actually help us to see that there is more to this world than the physical realm.
Bible tells us that our warfare is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers. So, we must use the angelic powers from God, to deal with these unseen powers by commanding angels.

I hope that you use these spiritual warfare secrets that the Lord has shown me. Once you begin to enter this realm of believing there is no going back, you must send angels out every day, to fight the evil spirits of infirmities, which is sickness and disease, the spirit of uncleanliness, which is the evil lusts, in mind and deed.
The spirit of poverty, which are evil attacks on your finances, and anything else that you could possibly think of where you need help.
Most important of all, every day we must repent, and live in the victory, that Christ Jesus has saved us.

Please provide the Bible verses that clearly say that we can command the angels. I think you have a misconception of who commands the angels. It is not us who does that but God Himself. God does send them to minister to us and to protect us but they do so only at His instruction. We have no authority to command them to do anything.

  3. COMMANDING ANGELS

“Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? {Hebrews 1: 14}.

Yes, angels play a great part in helping Christians to live in this world; The Lord showed me in a dream vision on how to command angels to make life easier. I was walking in a beautiful garden with God our heavenly Father, He was very tall, I could not see His face but I knew that it was God. He said to me, “Angels must be sent out with the voice of authority”. He showed me many butterflies in His beautiful garden, and He said, “Tell them to go”. So I said, “go”, just a few took off.

Then He said, “ This is not the way”, and He put one of His hands behind Him, and then brought it forward forcefully with the voice of authority, and said “ GO”, and a great multitude which could not be numbered took off, then He raised His other hand and repeated, “GO”, another great multitude took flight. Still He was not finished, then He raised both hands

behind His head, then bringing them forward with such force and with a mighty voice of authority, He said, “GO”, and all you could see was butterflies filling the air.

He then turned to me and said, “This is how you must send my angels out before you with the voice of authority”. Many times I have sent these angelic beings out with the voice of authority, commanding them to go in the mighty name of Jesus, and they have never failed to obey, no matter how big or small the task might be, let us always remember that we have a great heavenly host ready to go into action in and through the mighty name of Jesus.

So you see angels are to minister, yes serve us, for we are the heirs of salvation, the chosen ones, and we are to send them forth as the Bible says in {Hebrews 1 v 14}.

    Billy,

The context of Hebrews ch. 1 is that Jesus is greater, or ranks higher, than angels. Angels held a position of high regard in the Jewish culture and the author of Hebrews was making a case to them that they should hold Jesus in higher regard. We must also look at who is sending the angels in the context of verse 14. It is not man…it is God Himself. He has that authority and it is never given to us.

I have looked up verse 14 in several different translations. It appears you quoted it from the KJV. Some others read as:

[NIV] Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

[ESV] Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?

[NASB] Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?

We are also told in the Bible that when Jesus took on human form He became “a little lower than the angels.” From this we can now that we rank lower than the angels. How can we command beings that rank higher in God’s creation than we do?

It is true that once we are saved by God’s grace that He adopts us into His family and we become “joint heirs” with Jesus. But this adoption is not completed until we step into eternity and God completes our sanctification.

I also want to ask you another question. I do not mean any disrespect when I ask this but I want to make sure that I understand exactly what you are say. It appears that you are saying that God has given you a “new” (for lack of a better term) revelation concerning angels. Is that what you mean when you discuss the visions you have had from God?

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving your comments.

  5. “Are not all angels ministering spirits” .

Hi Tom, what part of ministering angels don’t you understand ?
God has given us through Jesus Christ ministering angels, that means they are our servants, and that they must obey us when we send them to do the tasks that we have asked our heavenly Father for. All our prayers are directed to our Father in heaven through and in the name of Jesus, and regarding your last question, don’t you think that God still speaks to His people today through visions and dreams? Do you think that He is confined to what is just written in a collection of a few books called the Bible? Isn’t it written that all the books of the world could not contain all the mighty works that our Lord has done?
    God bless you Billy.

    Billy,

I have no problem with the concept that angels are ministering spirits. My contention is that we are not the ones who get to command them and with the use of new revelation to support this.

    You said:

God has given us through Jesus Christ ministering angels, that means they are our servants, and that they must obey us when we send them to do the tasks that we have asked our heavenly Father for.

God has given angels the task of ministering to us or protecting us or bringing us a message, etc. The point is that He is the one who commands them, not us. They do not serve us, they serve Him who sent them. We are only the beneficiaries of their service. They do not have to obey us. There is no passage in the Bible, that I am aware of, that teaches this. The verse you cited from Hebrews does not teach this.

God may choose to send an angel to bring us an answer to our prayers or perform some task that we asked God for but the angel does so at His command, not ours. God is not required to answer our prayers. He has not assigned angels to respond to our commands. We present our requests to God and then He decides if and how He will answer them. Any other understanding of this falsely raises us higher than we deserve.

    You said:

don’t you think that God still speaks to His people today through visions and dreams? Do you think that He is confined to what is just written in a collection of a few books called the Bible?

I believe that God can speak to us today in any way He chooses. This would include dreams and visions. What we must remember though is that He will not give us anything that is not in accordance with His word (the Bible). The Bible is sufficient for all that we need to know but it does not contain knowledge of everything.

You also make reference to John 21:25 which says “Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. The apostle John was talking about the things recorded in the Gospels. He was letting us know that not everything Jesus did was actually written down, only what we needed, as determined by God.

Other than what I have seen on your blog, I know nothing about you but I feel compelled to tell you this: We are actually to be suspicious of “new revelation” that is received that is not in direct agreement with what is taught in the Bible. I fear that this may be the case in what you have experienced. Please compare what you have been told in the visions and dreams to the Bible. Anything that is not in direct agreement with the Bible is not from God. I urge you to re-evaluate the teaching you have received. I fear you are being led astray.

  7. Well Tom,
I hope this letter will bless you, that the LORD has given me, yes me.

Let us go on to perfection.
    Hebrews 6 v 1.

The Holy Ghost has many things to say to us, yet it is hard for Him to speak to us because we are so immature in our faith. For it is time for us to teach others yet we still feel we need to be taught the same things again.

The Bible says we cannot stay as babies drinking milk, that means being unskilful in God’s Word, but we must be grown up, by eating strong meat, which means that we are able to discern between good and evil.

The Word of God tells us that we are not to stand still in our faith. Some of us keep going over and over, time after time, the first principles of the oracles of God. You know, being saved, repenting of sins, baptism in water and in the Holy Ghost, laying on of hands, the resurrection from the dead and eternal judgement.

Which are all very necessary things, but now it is time to move on, for our foundation has been laid. The Bible teaches that we do not need to be taught again and again but it is time to teach others, so that we, who are mature

in faith, may come into a much closer walk with Christ. This we will do if God permits, as the word of God says.

I believe that God will reveal more of the revelations of His Word to us if we start to buckle down by getting serious with God.

He will show us marvellous things, and will do great things through us. I remember the words of Jesus, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit, when the Spirit of truth is come He will guide you into all truth,” {John 16 v 12:13}.

The Lord also said, “verily, verily I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also: and greater works than these shall he do, because I go unto my Father”,
    {John 14 v 12}.

So, let us not stand still but go on to perfection, by having a closer walk with Christ, and to fulfil the ministry, which God has given to everyone of us.

For too long we have sat under other ministries, when we should have begun our own. For God wants you and I to preach the word, Summer, Winter, Springtime and Harvest, to reprove, rebuke, exhort, by HisSpirit that He has given us, for this is what Jesus has commanded us all to do. God bless you all, in your closer walk with Jesus.

Readings taken from the Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Hebrews chapters 5 & 6.

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” {Philippians 3 v 14}.

    Billy,

I agree with everything you have said here. The difference I think we are having is in the understanding of the nature of the deeper revelations God will give us as we get closer to Him. I think that God will grant us greater understanding of His word and only His word. You seem (correct me if I am wrong) to believe that God will grant us understandings of things beyond, or in addition to, His word. From you last post it seems that you are implying that these new revelations come as we mature in the faith and the Bible is only for “baby Christians” who never move beyond the salvation stage. I hope I am wrong in my assessment of your position.

There are many deep and meaningful things that we can learn from the Bible at the leading of the Holy Spirit. We can only learn these things as we mature and seek to increase our faith and knowledge of the Lord. Having said that, we must always compare the knowledge we are gaining against the Scriptures and if anything we learn in contrary to the Scriptures we must recognize it is not from God. God does not give us “new” revelations….He gives us new and deeper understand of His revelation conveyed to us in the Bible.

Behold I Show You A Mystery

What will we look like when we go to heaven? What kind of bodies will we have? These are the questions that Christians are asking in these last days. Once during a time of severe illness, God gave me a very special dream vision of my glorified body. I was taken to a garden in heaven, where the Lord showed me my glorified body; I was about twenty two years of age, very radiant in appearance, like an angel of God. I did not look like myself, but I knew that it was me. I had a crown of reeds upon my head and I was sleeping in perfect peace, I noticed that the crown of reeds seemed to be too big for my head, for it slipped down past my forehead, and was just touching the top of my eyes.

I wondered what this dream vision meant, for at the time I was very sick and I thought that I was going to die, but the Lord’s gracious hand was upon me. He revealed to me the interpretation of this dream. The reed which was falling down past my forehead represented eternity, and my body was not yet big enough or completely ready for me, for it still needed more time to grow and become perfected. And so when the time comes, and the crown of reeds will fit perfectly, then and only then will I leave this old earth for God’s glorious heaven. Soon after this my health began to improve. This blessing from the Lord was one of many blessings which I received from His throne room.

When I close my eyes in this life, I shall awake in this body, for it is written in 1Corinthians chapter 15 v 44, 49, 51 & 52. “There is a natural body and there is a spiritual body. —And as we have borne the image of the earthly, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly— Behold I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed.” So dear Christian isn’t it wonderful to know that you and I have been promised by the Lord Jesus, a strong and perfect body.

Changed in the twinkling of an eye, The trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised, Changed in the twinkling of an eye. Oh, the seed that was sown in weakness,
Shall then be raised in power,

    And the songs of the Blood bought millions, Shall hail that blissful hour;
When we gather safely home in the morning, And nights dark shadows fly,
What a shouting on the shore. When we meet to part no more,
Changed in the twinkling of an eye.

    Tom,

In regards to the individual you have been commenting with here, you have done an admirable job keeping him accountable to the written word of God. That is the standard by which we can measure “deeper revelations.” Keep up the good work.

This passage is very fitting for the type of deceit these type of “teachers” bring:

The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. –2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
