Civics Literacy Exam

The majority of Americans have failed this basic civics exam.  It was created by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute.  Take the exam (click here) and let me know how you do.  Leave your results in the comments section.  For the record I scored 81.82% (27 out of 33 correct).  Of the 6 I missed, I should have gotten 3 more correct but I didn’t.

Missed 4 because I was reading too fast on one. Should have missed 3.

I notice that if you go to the results, they provide a breakdown between average citizens and elected officials. The elected officials scored LOWER than the citizens in EVERY category. That might explain some of the countries problems.

Have to admit that I did take a guess on some of them, but I guess it was an “educated guess”.

You answered 31 out of 33 correctly – 93.94%. It seems hard to believe that 1791 out of 2508 “random Americans” got less than 60%.

  7. 28 (but one fingerfehler). It would have been a lot worse without multiple-choice; e.g., I didn’t remember exactly what the Lincoln-Douglas debate was about, but seeing the choices jogged the memory considerably.

I got the last question wrong – oh well. There are greater tragedies in life.
