ABOUT ME

There is an old saying that goes something like this: you should never discuss religion, politics, or sex in polite company. Now, I have never been one to kiss and tell so no problem there but as for the others…well those are my two favorite things to talk about. Most (not all) people are somewhat guarded when it comes to what they will say and how they will say it so finding out what they really think about something can be difficult. This is not the case with politics and religion because most are very passionate about their beliefs in these areas. Once you have determined where the persons stands on religious and political issues you have a good understanding of how that person thinks about just about anything.

I live in a small town in northeast Tennessee. I attend a small Southern Baptist Church where I serve as a Sunday School teacher and on the Church Council. I also teach other discipleship classes as the opportunities arise. I was ordained as a Deacon at a previous church. I don’t serve as Deacon at my current church although I am still qualified to do so should I be nominated and desire to do so. I am an accountant by trade but my calling is discipleship. This includes not only learning what the Bible says but also how to properly apply it to our lives. Without this application our knowledge is useless. I believe I have the spiritual gifts of teaching, discernment, and to a lessor extent administration.

On Sunday August 5, 2007 I was elected to serve as a Deacon in my church. I had been ordained and served in this role at a previous church. I pray the LORD will give me the necessary skills to fulfill my duties.
