“Gay Marriage” And Child Abuse

Dr. James White has posted an article on his blog discussing the effects on children of same-sex couples.  He says

“It is a measure of the decay of Western culture that self-deception is the activity of the day. We constantly cry, “for the children, for the children!” while abusing them to no end in the service of ourselves. It is purposefully abusive of a child to consciously deny to them a mother and a father. It is even worse to warp them, from the start, by providing two mothers or two fathers, neither of which is actually a mother or a father, since, by definition, those terms are defined by the other.”

I agree with the points  Dr. White makes in his article.  It is sad that our country has deteriorated to the point that it has.  We need God to send a revival to our country.  At this point, returning to God is the only way possible to turn us from our present course.

SBC Resolution #7 – On The California Supreme Court Decision To Allow Same-Sex Marriage

SBC Resolutions

7. On The California Supreme Court Decision To Allow Same-Sex Marriage
June 2008

WHEREAS, On May 15, 2008, the California Supreme Court struck down the state’s ban on same-sex marriage thus frustrating the will of the people who, on March 7, 2000, voted in favor (61.4%) of Proposition 22 which affirmed, “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California”; and

WHEREAS, This decision has dire national implications because California law will allow same-sex couples from any state to marry in California, return to their home state, and challenge that state’s traditional marriage laws based on the full faith and credit clause of the Constitution of the United States; and

WHEREAS, The United States Congress has repeatedly refused to pass a constitutional amendment defining marriage as exclusively between a man and a woman, thus providing no federal protection from attacks against traditional marriage; and

WHEREAS, Marriage is ordained by God as a permanent union of one man and one woman (Genesis 1:27-28; 2:24); and

WHEREAS, Jesus reaffirmed marriage as a sacred, monogamous, and life-long institution joining one man and one woman (Matthew 19:4-6); and

WHEREAS, Any action giving homosexual unions the legal status of marriage denies the fundamental immorality of homosexual behavior (Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11); and

WHEREAS, The people of California have collected over 1.1 million signatures on a petition requiring the state to place a referendum on the ballot in November defining marriage as exclusively between a man and a woman; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the messengers to the Southern Baptist Convention meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana, June 10-11, 2008, wholeheartedly support the people in California who have worked tirelessly to place this referendum on the ballot; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we strongly urge all Southern Baptists in the state of California to be informed about this issue and to exercise their civic and moral duty by working diligently to support and voting to pass this referendum; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we encourage all Christian pastors in California and in every other state to speak strongly, prophetically, and redemptively concerning the sinful nature of homosexuality and the urgent need to protect biblical marriage in accordance with God’s Word; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we call on all Southern Baptists and believers from all denominations everywhere to pray for the people of California as they seek to right this terrible wrong that has been forced upon them by the California Supreme Court’s overturning of the vote of the people and to pray for the people of every state where biblical marriage is under attack; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we reaffirm our historic and consistent support of the biblical definition of marriage as an exclusive union between a man and a woman; and be it finally

RESOLVED, That we once again call on the United States Congress to pass, the President to sign, and the states to ratify a constitutional amendment defining marriage as exclusively between a man and a woman.

John MacArthur On The Gay Agenda And God’s Plan For It

In this article over at Pulpit Magazine John MacArthur addresses the issue from a biblical perspective.  Should there be any other way?  Here are a couple quotes:

How should you respond to the success of the gay agenda? Should you accept the recent trend toward tolerance? Or should you side with those who exclude homosexuals with hostility and disdain?

In reality, the Bible calls for a balance between what some people think are two opposing reactions—condemnation and compassion. Really, the two together are essential elements of biblical love, and that’s something the homosexual sinner desperately needs.

And

Why does God condemn homosexuality? Because it overturns God’s fundamental design for human relationships—a design that pictures the complementary relationship between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:18-25; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:22-33).

And

As a Christian, you must not compromise what the Bible says about homosexuality—ever. No matter how much you desire to be compassionate to the homosexual, your first sympathies belong to the Lord and to the exaltation of His righteousness. Homosexuals stand in defiant rebellion against the will of their Creator who from the beginning “made them male and female” (Matthew 19:4).

There are more very good quotes I could add.  Go and read the article.  It is worth your time.

Legalize Same Sex Marriage?

Found this post over at Reformed Baptist Fellowship.  It is short and gives three very good reasons why same sex marriage should not be allowed.  The three reasons are:

1. Because there is such a thing as right and wrong.

2. Because the government has a solemn obligation to create laws which protect society           and promote the public good.

3. Because same sex marriage steps out onto a perverted slippery slope.

Read the post to see if you agree with his reasoning.

Landmark study: Change for homosexuals is possible

This (Baptist Press – Landmark study: Change for homosexuals is possible – News with a Christian Perspective) is BIG news and will no doubt be heavily criticized.  The first paragraph says “In what some are calling groundbreaking research, a new four-year study concludes it is possible for homosexuals to change their physical attractions and become heterosexual through the help of Christian ministries.”

Those who advocate the homosexual lifestyle as being normal and mainstream will be on the warpath after this.  The fact remains though that this lifestyle is a choice and like any choice it can be un-chosen.  People can change their behavior.  “These findings contradict directly the commonly expressed views of the mental health establishment that change in sexual orientation is impossible, and that if you attempt to change it’s highly likely to produce harm for those who make such an attempt,” said Stanton L. Jones, professor of psychology at Wheaton College in Illinois.

It will be interesting to see the reactions to this study in the next few days and weeks.  The bottom line is simple – God is still in control and He can and will change lives when He decides to.  May He choose to do so in the lives of those caught in this lifestyle.

Iowa judge orders ‘gay marriage’ legalized

This (Baptist Press – Iowa judge orders ‘gay marriage’ legalized – News with a Christian Perspective) is a shocking story. That an activist judge has tried to impose his will on the whole of the people of the state is bad enough but what is truly shocking is the comments he makes in the ruling.

The judge said “marriage has evolved over time” and that “homosexuality is a normal expression of human sexuality.” He also said of the traditional view of marriage that it reflects “old and overbroad stereotypes.” He also wrote that it is “well-established that children do not need a parent of each gender to be well adjusted” and that “children do not need male and female role models in the home to develop normally.”

The story points out that “Hanson’s decision overturned a defense of marriage act passed by the legislature and signed into law in the late 1990s. He ruled that the law violated both the due process and equal protection clauses of the Iowa constitution.”

What right does this judge have to order changes in any law. The last time I checked judges were supposed to interpret the laws that are on the books not implement laws that they want on the books. Where in our national Constitution or any state constitution are judges given the power to make and implement laws?

CHRISTIAN CALL TO ACTION: Christians – we are supposed to be proclaiming the truth of God’s Word. We are failing to do so and things like this are happening. It is time that Christians speak out and get involved. Our country is deteriorating fast because of we are not willing to take a stand. Be BOLD!! It is His battle….STAND FIRM…..SPEAK OUT……PROCLAIM THE TRUTH……and above all PRAY CONTINUOUSLY.

Another blog addressing whether homosexuality is a sin or not

This is a good post detailing what the Bible has to say on the subject.  The Bible is the ultimate authority on all things so it is appropriate to consult it for answers to this question.  The topic of homosexuality is directly addressed in the Bible. As such we need to heed what it says.

Finally an honest homosexual advocate

Dr. Mohler posted an entry to his blog today entitled Homosexuality and the Bible — The Rejectionist Approach. He is reviewing an article published in Commonweal magazine written by Luke Timothy Johnson. Johnson serves as Robert R. Woodruff Professor of New Testament at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

In the article Mohler sums up Johnson’s argument this way. “He (Johnson) argues that those who believe that the Bible’s clear condemnations of homosexual behaviors are still authoritative for Christians do so only out of fear or a lack of understanding of homosexuality itself. As he explains later in his essay, he has grown by experience to overcome this fear and ignorance. He now believes that the Bible is simply wrong.”

Johnson also says “I think it important to state clearly that we do, in fact, reject the straightforward commands of Scripture, and appeal instead to another authority when we declare that same-sex unions can be holy and good. And what exactly is that authority? We appeal explicitly to the weight of our own experience and the experience thousands of others have witnessed to, which tells us that to claim our own sexual orientation is in fact to accept the way in which God has created us. By so doing, we explicitly reject as well the premises of the scriptural statements condemning homosexuality–namely, that it is a vice freely chosen, a symptom of human corruption, and disobedience to God’s created order.

Now that is an honest statement. Johnson admits that there is a higher authority than God in his opinion. That higher authority is personal experience. One quick question…if the Bible is to be interpreted through our personal experience then how can it make any absolute assertions? By this I mean that if my experience leads me to believe the Bible teaches on thing and someone else’s experience leads them to believe the Bible teaches the opposite who is right? This simply leads to chaos.

The Creator is very clear in His inerrant, infallible, perfect Word that homosexuality is a sin. The only way around that is to reject the Bible. Johnson has done that and at least he is honest enough to say so. I can respect his honesty but not his position on this.

Gay Christians?

I found this (Gay Christians? « Fisher of Men) post over at Fisher of Men.  This brother participated in witnessing at a gay pride parade in Colorado.  He shares some of his experiences.  I commend his boldness. I am sure that it is no easy task to do something like this but it is one that all Christians should consider.  God wants bold outspoken followers.  As you read his post also read the comments.  He is under attach by some homosexual “christians” who disagree with what he did.

May God give us all this kind of boldness.
